How to Emphasize Your Pear-Shaped Figure

Wear boot cut or flared bottom trousers. They will help add width to your ankle area and therefore reduce the apparent size of your middle area.

Always try to wear dark colours around your hips and lighter colours further up. Remember dark colours are slimming and light colours have the reverse effect.

An A-line skirt will emphasize your curves without making you look huge.

Three quarter length coats and tops will effectively cover your problem area without making you look like you are trying to hide something

Conversely, avoid short jackets and tops that end at your bum. This will draw the eye to your large middle section

Do not wear trousers with a wide leg. These will just make you look huge from the waist down to your feet.

Remember heels are your best friend. Not only do these add a few inches to your legs but they will make your hips and bottom look smaller.

Make the most of what you've got upstairs. If you're not blessed with heaving breasts, wear a padded bra or wonderbra. This isn't to make you look sexy (although it can do if you want) but to help balance you're larger middle area and draw attention away from it.

In the same vein, accessorize with necklaces and broaches to draw the eyes to your upper body rather than your less favourable areas.
